Wives of VDP Members Initiated into Koko Donda Loincloth Dyeing in Tougo

Tougo: The Gand-Taaba Association organized a practical training session on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Tougo for 70 women, including wives of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and customary chiefs, focusing on the art of dyeing koko donda loincloth.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this training session aimed to introduce participants to the dyeing techniques of koko donda loincloth. The goal is to enable these women to develop income-generating activities and contribute to the well-being of their households. Throughout the training, participants learned about various stages of the dyeing process, including fabric preparation, the use of dyes, and techniques to create durable patterns.

Nouro Ouedraogo, president of the Gand-Taaba Association, emphasized that this initiative reflects the association's commitment to supporting the economic empowerment of women in the community. "Through this training, we want to provide women with practical skills that will enable them to carry out income-generating activities and support their families," he explained.

Salmata Ouedraogo, one of the participants, expressed that the training was a valuable learning opportunity that would contribute to improving their living conditions.

The opening ceremony of the session was presided over by the first vice-president of the Tougo special delegation, Relwinde Cecile Ouedraogo/Belem, who congratulated the organizers on their initiative. She noted that the initiative aligns with the government's vision of prioritizing women's empowerment, especially during this month of March dedicated to women. She urged the participants to master the production techniques to offer competitive products on the market.

The Gand-Taaba Association, established in 2023, aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of the populations in the commune of Tougo.
