Wives of VDP Members in Tougo Trained in Koko Donda Loincloth Dyeing

Tougo: The Gand-Taaba Association organized a practical training session on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Tougo, focusing on dyeing koko donda loincloth for 70 women, including the wives of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and customary chiefs. The training aimed at equipping participants with skills to create income-generating activities and contribute to their households' well-being. According to Burkina Information Agency, Nouro Ouedraogo, president of the Gand-Taaba Association, emphasized the association's commitment to supporting women's economic empowerment in the community through this initiative. "Through this training, we want to provide women with practical skills that will enable them to carry out income-generating activities and support their families," he stated. Salmata Ouedraogo, one of the participants, expressed that this learning opportunity would significantly improve their living conditions. The training covered various stages of dyeing, such as fabric preparation, dye us age, and techniques for creating durable patterns. Relwinde Cecile Ouedraogo/Belem, the first vice-president of the Tougo special delegation, presided over the session's opening ceremony. She congratulated the organizers for aligning with the government's vision of prioritizing women's empowerment, especially during March, dedicated to women. She encouraged participants to master the production techniques to eventually offer competitive products in the market. Established in 2023, the Gand-Taaba Association aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of the populations in the commune of Tougo.
