Windhoek Police Investigate Series of Weekend Housebreakings

WINDHOEK: Law enforcement in the Namibian capital are actively investigating a series of separate alleged housebreaking incidents that took place over the weekend.

According to a new release by Namibia Press Agency, one incident happened on Saturday around 00h00 at Otjomuise. A group of unknown men reportedly entered a flat and held the occupants at gunpoint and with pangas, before making away with properties valued at N.dollars 49,000, including two laptops, one Samsung TV set, and an iPhone 13.

Another incident occurred at Single Quarters on Friday around 07h00. An unknown suspect allegedly broke into a kindergarten on Helena Angula Street, stealing 19 plastic chairs, five plastic tables, toiletries, and stationery, all valued at N.dollars 101,100.

Additionally, another housebreaking incident was registered in Otjomuise on Saturday around 03h00. Suspects allegedly broke into a house and stole two Samsung TVs, a sound bar, and a Samsung A12 cellphone, with the total value estimated at N.dollars 22,000.

Meanwhile, a case of theft under false pretense was registered involving restaurant equipment valued at N.dollars 40,000 taken from a plot at Brakwater between August 2023 and 20 October 2023. The items include an oven, a steel table, and a fan. No suspects have been arrested, and none of the stolen items have been recovered. Police investigations are ongoing.
