Ouagadougou: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traor©, received on Thursday in Ouagadougou the resident representative and Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Burkina Faso, Sory Ouane, who came to express his gratitude to the head of Burkinabe diplomacy at the end of his mission.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ouane expressed his gratitude to the Burkinabe authorities, and in particular to the head of Burkinabe diplomacy, for the good collaboration and constant support during his term. "The collaboration reached an exceptional level, so much so that all the actions we took were rigorously aligned with national priorities, which yielded very satisfactory results," he said.
In terms of achievements, it is noted that the UN agency has worked alongside the Burkinabe government in the context of achieving food sovereignty, through the implementation of the agro-pastoral offensive. The WFP also provides considerable support for the care and resilience building of displaced persons. Significant contributions are also made in the education sector.
According to the country director, these results were made possible thanks to the communication and transparency that characterized the relationship between the WFP and the Burkinabe government. In turn, the Burkinabe foreign minister praised Mr. Ouane's good performance and the impact of the institution's interventions on the ground. "We are witnessing what the WFP brings and continues to bring to Burkina Faso in a special context," the minister noted.
While wishing his guest good health and well-being, Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traor© reaffirmed his department's willingness to maintain the dynamic collaboration with the WFP team in Burkina Faso. After 18 months at the head of the WFP office, Sory Ouane thus concludes his mission in the Land of Upright Men, also marking the end of his professional career.
It should be noted that the Burkinabe foreign minister had previously received the ambassador, head of the European Union delegation to Burkina Faso, Philippe Bronchain. The two figures exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation, noting the need to strengthen mechanisms and frameworks for dialogue.
