An integrated police operation conducted in NY115, Gugulethu in the early hours of this morning led to the arrests of suspects on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, the illegal possession of ammunition and business robbery. The members searched the identified premises and found a 12 gauge shotgun hidden in a cricket bag in the back room. A 56-year-old man was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The members also searched a premises in NY1 where they arrested a 17-year-old suspect for being in possession of 47 9mm rounds of ammunition.
A 58-year-old man was arrested on charges of business robberies which were perpetrated in the Athlone and Manenberg areas. Three trays containing silver rings were confiscated.
The suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrates court on Monday respectively.
