West Pokot Football Team Clinches Victory in KICOSCA 2024

West Pokot: The County Government of West Pokot, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Social Services, Sports, and Youth Affairs, organized a celebratory luncheon to honor the triumphant KICOSCA 2024 football team. The team emerged as champions of the KICOSCA 2024 Men’s Football Tournament by securing a 2-0 victory against Nairobi County in the final match held at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County.



According to Kenya News Agency, this victory marks a significant milestone for West Pokot, as the KECOSCA 024 team showcased remarkable talent, teamwork, and determination on the field. At the governor’s residence, Governor Simon Kachapin extended his congratulations to the team for their dedication and outstanding achievement. Governor Kachapin emphasized that this victory is a collective win for the entire county, highlighting the importance of investing in youth and sports development.



The governor expressed his best wishes to the KICOSCA 024 football team as they prepare to represent the county and the country at the upcoming East Africa Local Authorities Sports and Cultural Association (EALASCA) games in Kampala. He affirmed the county administration’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure for athletes, as part of a broader initiative to enhance sports in the region.



Governor Kachapin also announced extensive renovations of local sports fields to ensure that players have access to high-quality facilities for training and competitions. He stressed the importance of investing in sports to promote physical health and foster unity and pride among the people of West Pokot.



In addition, Governor Kachapin called for support towards Miss Tourism Sarah Pkyach from West Pokot, encouraging county leadership to assist her in her personal and professional development. He advocated for opportunities that could advance her skills, emphasizing the significance of empowering young women and fostering growth in the tourism and cultural sectors.



County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Culture, Social Services, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Lucky Litole, expressed her delight at the development of young people in West Pokot through sports, highlighting its vital role in shaping the future of the county’s youth. The CECM reiterated the county’s commitment to creating opportunities for youth through sports, providing necessary resources, coaching, and platforms for personal development and empowerment.



Chief Officer of Tourism, Culture, Social Services, Sports, and Youth Affairs Edwin Lokomol extended his gratitude to the Governor for his support in making the event a success. He acknowledged the Governor’s dedication to enhancing the lives of young people in West Pokot through sports and cultural initiatives and emphasized the importance of collaboration between county leadership and various departments to create meaningful opportunities for the region’s youth.
