Naples: The West African diaspora in Italy mobilized strongly this Sunday in Naples for a large march in support of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), and particularly Mali, which is mourning a recent terrorist attack that claimed the life of General Sadio Camara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the demonstration was organized by the Patriotic Movement of the AES Diaspora in Italy and took place in Piazza Garibaldi. Several hundred participants gathered to express their solidarity with the Sahelian peoples and their commitment to the ideals of sovereignty, dignity, and African unity.
Waving the flags of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, the demonstrators marched through the streets of Naples in an atmosphere that was both solemn and committed. Slogans calling for resistance against terrorism and the strengthening of the AES punctuated the march.
At the heart of the tributes was General Sadio Camara, a symbol of struggle and patriotism. "His memory will always live on, his fight continues," read the banners, reflecting the emotion and determination of the participants.
The organizers stressed the need for the diaspora to remain mobilized in the face of the security challenges facing the Sahel countries. "This march is an act of solidarity, but also a strong message: the AES is moving forward, and its diaspora remains committed," they declared.
Beyond the moment of reflection, the event was intended as a call for African unity and increased support for the efforts of Sahelian states in the fight against terrorism and for the defense of their sovereignty.
This mobilization demonstrates the growing involvement of African diasporas in the political and security issues of their countries of origin, as well as their desire to have an impact on international support dynamics.
