Wendkouni Association Supplies Food to Combat Malnutrition in Namentenga

Namentenga: The Wendkouni association provides food to 8 health centers to stem malnutrition: The Wendkouni association has delivered a significant amount of food supplies to eight health centers within the Boulsa health district as part of their effort to address malnutrition through the NUTCOM program, facilitated by the NGO Plan International de Kaya.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the health centers that received these donations include the urban dispensary, the CSPS of Mokin-Yarc©, Zomnogo, Sanghin de Ni¨ga, as well as those located in Konkora-Yarc©, Saint Fran§ois d'Assise, and sector 3. The donation package consists of various essential food items, including 40 bags of 50 kg small millet, 48 bags of 25 kg peanuts, 32 bags of 25 kg beans, 32 boxes of 50 kg sugar, 40 bags of 5 kg salt, 48 cans of 5 liters oil, and 32 boxes of 25 kg dried fish.

The handover ceremony was officiated by Ms. Fatimata Sawadogo, president of the Boulsa municipal special delegation. It was attended by Pac´me Zida, who leads the NUTCOM program at the NGO Plan International's Kaya office. During the event, Emile Compaor©, Chief Medical Officer of the Boulsa Health District, highlighted the importance of these supplies in raising awareness among pregnant women about combating malnutrition.

The MCD emphasized that these supplies are crucial in addressing malnutrition at the grassroots level, as it remains a pressing issue for health authorities in Namentenga province. Pac´me Zida, program manager for the NUTCOM initiative, noted the alarming rates of malnutrition cases in the province and stated that this concern is the primary reason for launching the NUTCOM project in the region with the goal of reversing the trend.

Wendkouni Dieudonn© Nonaba, president of the Wendkouni association, expressed gratitude to the partner organization for their support in implementing the program in the Boulsa district. He also reiterated the NGO's commitment to supporting the local population at the grassroots level.
