Ouagadougou, March 15, 2023 (AIB) – The Federation of Tourism and Hotel Employers’ Organizations presented the government on Wednesday with a check for 10 million FCFA for its contribution to the war effort.
” We were able to mobilize 10 million FCFA, I think this shows our willingness to respond to the appeal of the Head of State”, declared the president of the Federation of employers’ organizations for tourism and the hotel industry (FOPAHT ), Mahamadou Pierre Celestin Zoungrana.
Mr. Zoungrana who was speaking on Wednesday in Ouagadougou during an official check delivery ceremony, said the donation will go directly to the treasury for the war effort.
He also indicated that his structure offered boxes of paper reams to the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism.
The president of FOPAHT indicated that the mobilization of resources had the support of the actors of the sector.
“Since 2015, we have been experiencing difficulties, we no longer receive foreign tourists. We appeal to all our brothers and sisters to attend our establishments,” he said.
The Minister in charge of Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo expressed his gratitude to all the actors for their gesture to the contribution of the war effort.
Mr. Ouedraogo also nourished the hope that Burkina Faso will emerge from the terrorist hydra with the help of its daughters and sons.
Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo reminded Burkinabè that the war effort does not only concern those who have the big means and that all small contributions are also expected.
Since 2015, the country has faced multiple terrorist attacks which have caused the death of hundreds of people, more than one million 800 thousand internally displaced persons and the closure of many schools and health establishments.
