Walvis bay: The Municipality of Walvis Bay has reiterated that the use of fireworks within the town is prohibited unless prior authorisation has been obtained from the relevant authorities.
According to Namibia Press Agency, in a press statement issued on Wednesday, the municipality stated that permission to operate fireworks must be obtained from the Namibian Police Force, as well as the Municipality of Walvis Bay.
The regulations aim to ensure public safety, particularly during the festive season. The municipality emphasized that extreme care should be taken when handling or setting off fireworks and that children must not be allowed to play with or shoot fireworks.
For organised events, the municipality advised that professional guidance be sought. The municipality further called on residents and visitors to comply with the regulations in the interest of community safety.
