Poura: In a concerted effort to enhance the living environment of Poura, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) organized a comprehensive clean-up day around key areas including the town hall, prefecture, main market, and bus station as part of the Day of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative began at 6 a.m. with PDS President Momini Sawadogo, his close collaborators, and technical service heads of the town hall, all actively participating. Equipped with rakes and shovels, they worked on clearing the gutter in front of the market, which had been misused by some residents as a dumping ground.
To facilitate the clean-up, the town hall provided tricycles and cleaning equipment for public use, and collected waste was taken to a designated temporary recycling site. Some volunteers also contributed their tricycles to aid in the efforts.
The PDS used this opportunity to educate traders at the main market, kiosk managers at the bus station, and vendors along the main road about the importance of maintaining a clean environment, emphasizing that this was a directive from the President of Faso to promote public hygiene.
The event saw participation from various sectors including decentralized services, traders, officials from the Municipal Coordination of Citizen Watch (CCAVC), women's coordination officials, vegetable sellers, and other community members.
Previously, in February 2026, the special delegation addressed sanitation needs by constructing garbage bins in collaboration with PREGOLS. These bins were distributed across neighborhoods, managed by appointed officials, as part of efforts outlined in the updated municipal development plan to improve waste management.
