Vihiga: Vihiga Constituency National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) has disbursed Sh27 million in bursaries to learners in secondary schools. Speaking during the issuance of the cheques to the school principals at St Claire’s Maragoli Secondary School Thursday, the area Member of Parliament (MP) Ernest Kagesi said the disbursement is intended to enable the school managers to run the institutions smoothly.
According to Kenya News Agency, Kagesi lauded the school heads for being considerate to students with financial difficulties by allowing them to remain in school despite defaulting on the fees payment. The MP asserted that NG-CDF stands out as a vital kitty that supports the education sector through funding infrastructural development and enabling the offsetting of workers’ emoluments, among other things.
The beneficiaries, who are mainly from day secondary schools, were allocated between Sh3,000 and Sh5,000 depending on the need assessment reports.
