Hanoi—Vietnam has reported significant growth in its fishery exports, reaching $7.16 billion in revenue from January to September, marking an 8.5 percent increase from the previous year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers detailed that shrimp led the surge with export values climbing to $2.8 billion, a 10.5 percent increase year on year. Tra fish also showed strong performance, with revenues rising 8 percent to $1.46 billion during the same period. While tuna exports experienced a slowdown starting August due to a raw material shortage, they still posted a 16 percent increase, totaling $715 million over nine months. Conversely, squid and octopus exports faced a slight decline of 2.7 percent, bringing in $464 million.
The association anticipates that by the end of the year, Vietnam’s fishery export revenues could reach $9.5 billion, with shrimp exports projected to generate nearly $4 billion, tra fish around $2 billion, and tuna approaching $1 billion.
