Heuningvlei serial rapist convicted to life behind bars


The Kuruman Regional Court recently handed down a hefty three life imprisonment sentences to a serial rapist, 28-year-old Thabo Mosieleile and his accomplice, 37-year-old Ernst Gaotlhope for housebreaking with the intention to rape and rape in two separate incidences.



The court heard that the accused, Thabo Mosieleile broke into the house of a 52-year-old female victim on Sunday, 01 May 2016 while she was asleep and raped her.



He then proceeded with his accomplice to rape a mentally challenged 38-year-old female victim on 15 October 2017. The police positively linked the duo to the crimes through DNA samples collected from the victims.



The first accused, Thabo was sentenced to 2 life sentences for rape and a further 12 years for the housebreaking with the intent to rape, whilst his accomplice was hit with a life sentence for raping a mentally challenged victim. Both accused names will be included in the National Sex offenders’ data-base.



The Northern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola applauded Detective Sergeant Tokkie van Rensburg for the thorough and meticulous investigation of the case.



She further mentioned that the might of justice have no time limits, the police will continue unabatedly to support GBVF victims and dig deep in ensuring that perpetrators committing these heinous crimes will feel the full might of the law.
