Namibe: The Vice-President of Angola, Esperan§a Costa, embarked on a 72-hour visit to Namibe province on Tuesday to oversee the third ordinary session of the National Commission for the Safeguarding of World Heritage. The session focuses on the preservation and management of Angola’s cultural assets.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting’s agenda includes the presentation and discussion of draft regulations for the Participatory Management Committee of the Historical Centre of Mbanza Kongo. Additionally, the commission will review the draft implementation report concerning the World Heritage Committee’s recommendations on Mbanza Kongo.
The session will further address the condition of cultural heritage in Namibe province. Established by a presidential decree and led by the Vice-President, the Commission’s mission is to advance conservation programs and encourage participatory management of the nation’s cultural heritage. This initiative underscores the importance of implementing special measures for the oversight of cultural heritage with exceptional universal value.
