OTJIWARONGO—McHenry Venaani, President of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), has vowed to bring an end to hunger, poverty, and unemployment in Namibia by implementing a series of transformative policies and infrastructure projects, if his party is elected in the upcoming elections. During a campaign rally in Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, Venaani outlined his vision for a "glorious" future, emphasizing the creation of job opportunities, enhanced food security, and improved living conditions for all Namibians.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Venaani addressed over 1,000 attendees at the DRC informal area during his party's star rally held on Sunday. He highlighted the PDM's commitment to economic emancipation and a brighter future for the country’s youth across all 121 constituencies. With the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for 27 November 2024, Venaani urged voters to support PDM's agenda which includes ensuring clean drinking water, decent sanitation, and comprehensive employment initiatives.

"Namibia has vast land, more than its population. If you vote for PDM and Venaani, you will vote for one family, one residential plot," Venaani stated. He further mentioned plans to transform informal areas into recognized settlements with proper title deeds and to provide sufficient water resources for agricultural activities to eliminate the need for food imports.

In addition to infrastructure, Venaani promised educational support by allocating fishing quotas to the students' financial assistance fund and offering national tenders to vocational graduates to start their businesses. His vision extends to manufacturing and sports, with plans to establish a factory in each constituency and to construct 10 large sports stadiums across the country.

PDM, as the official opposition political party in Namibia, aims to leverage these plans to garner support and potentially reshape the country’s political and economic landscape.
