Vance Calls Zelenskyy’s Statements About US ‘Not Productive Rhetoric,’ ‘Absurd’

Washington: US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement about the United States "unproductive rhetoric" and "absurd" after he said that the US speaks more warmly with Russia than with Ukraine.

According to Namibia Press Agency, on Monday, Zelenskyy told CBS news that the US is maintaining a warm tone of dialogue with Russia to the detriment of Ukraine and that the US lacks a consolidated position in support of Kiev.

"I think it's sort of absurd for Zelensky to tell the [American] government, which is currently keeping his entire government and war effort together, that we are somehow on the side of the Russians," Vance said in an interview with the UnHerd web portal, adding that the Ukrainian president's rhetoric "is certainly not productive."

It is necessary to understand what the strategic "red lines" are for both sides of the conflict, Vance added.
