Lobito: US President Joe Biden on Wednesday learned about the facilities, equipment, and organization of the Port, one of the most important infrastructures in the Lobito Corridor. Accompanied by the presidents of Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and the Tanzanian vice-president, João Lourenço, Félix Tshisekedi, Hakainde Hichilema, and Philip Mpango, respectively, Joe Biden was informed about the Port’s level of operability.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the US president also learned about the advantages of the Port in relation to its geographical location and port security in terms of international navigation. This information was provided during a guided tour, where the extensive presidential delegation explored areas of strategic importance within the Port.

Among the critical infrastructures highlighted was the Multipurpose Terminal, which manages both general and containerized cargo. President Biden witnessed the arrival of a train from the Democratic Republic of Congo carrying cop

The Port of Lobito plays a crucial role in ensuring a substantial percentage of international trade volume for the entire sub-region. It handles containerized cargo exports such as construction materials, fuels, and beverages, while imports primarily consist of ore from regions such as the DRC’s Katanga area and Zambia’s Copperbelt region.
