US Donates Medical Equipment Worth 198 Million FCFA to Burkina Faso

OUAGADOUGOU – The United States has provided a significant donation of medical-technical equipment to Burkina Faso, aimed at enhancing the healthcare services in the country. The equipment, valued at approximately 198 million FCFA, was handed over to the Burkinabè Ministry of Health yesterday by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to Burkina Information Agency, a representative from USAID, the donation includes essential medical items such as newborn resuscitation equipment, examination and delivery tables, surgical instruments, and autoclaves for sterilization. Mac Ferland emphasized that this contribution reflects the United States’ commitment to improving the health and safety of women and children in Burkina Faso, considering it a crucial public health priority for both nations.

Dr. Issa Ouédraogo, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, received the donation and noted its significance in boosting the technical capabilities of health facilities across the country. He stated that the equipment would enhance the delivery of quality healthcare services to the population. “This act is part of the government’s dynamic to strengthen the operational capacities of health facilities for quality care,” Ouédraogo mentioned, expressing gratitude towards the American people for their support.

The medical equipment was procured under Project Momentum Integrated Health Resilience (#MIHR), a USAID initiative designed to fortify health systems and improve resilience in developing countries.
