Luanda: The US-Africa Summit, which Angola will host from the 22nd to the 25th of this month, will provide the Angolan government with an opportunity to attract investors to enhance mechanised agriculture, stated Vietnamese businesswoman Thi Ngo Ena on Sunday in Saurimo, Lunda-Sul province.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the representative of the Vietnamese community in Lunda-Sul expressed, during the provincial act of International Children’s Day, that sharing experiences with seasoned global entrepreneurs will assist in refining the diversification path of the Angolan economy.
Thi Ngo Ena highlighted that countries such as the USA, India, and China are leaders in the production of rice and other crops, emphasizing the need for Angola to use the Summit effectively. She reminded that Mona Quimbundo commune was once a key region for rice production in Angola, and attracting foreign investors to this area could encourage economic development.
She further explained that Angola, particularly Lunda-Sul, possesses adequate water resources and fertile land, ideal for producing rice, sweet potatoes, reindeer, and citrus fruits. Rice production, she noted, could significantly boost the local economy, create employment in rural areas, promote infrastructure development, and enhance industrial activities to process and market agricultural products locally and internationally.
Thi Ngo Ena asserted that hosting the summit in Luanda is a strategic move by the Angolan government. Engaging with experienced businessmen is vital for advancing professional and personal capacities. She also expressed hopes that the summit would not only facilitate experience exchange but also offer learning in mentoring sectors, networking, and business prospects in industries like transport and information technology.
Additionally, the event, which marks the 50th anniversary of National Independence, aims to establish partnerships with leading American companies and provide access to related financial instruments. Under the theme ‘Paths to Prosperity’, the 17th US-Africa Summit is anticipated to gather approximately 3,000 participants, including businessmen and government officials, to discuss infrastructure, agriculture, electricity, health, and other significant issues impacting Africans.
The forum is organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA of the USA) in collaboration with the Government of Angola. The Corporate Council for Africa is a business association dedicated to fostering business relations between the United States and the African continent. The previous U.S.-Africa Summit was held from May 6 to 9, 2024, in Dallas, United States, under the theme ‘U.S.-Business in Africa: Partnerships for Sustainable Success’.
