Viana: The second edition of the Urban Art Festival is captivating audiences in the municipality of Viana, organized by the Free Art Movement (MAL) as part of the 49th anniversary celebrations of national independence. This event brings together artists from Angola, Brazil, and Namibia, focusing on themes related to 16 days of activism against violence towards women and children, as well as national independence.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the artwork, described as a socio-cultural exchange, is displayed on the fence walls of the railway line in front of the Angomart supermarket and will remain on view until November 25. Manuel André Pedro, who is in charge of the activity, noted that this edition includes not only paintings but also a tour of tourist sites in the provinces of Luanda and Malanje. The aim is to showcase the country’s potential through art, with works produced on canvases for exhibition.
The festival’s artistic activities commenced on November 10 with the painting of murals. On Th
ursday, the group will travel to Malanje to visit the Kalandula Falls, the Pungo Stones in Ndongo, as well as Cabo Ledo and Mussulo. These locations will serve as venues for cultural exchange with foreign artists. The festival features participation from thirty artists, including eight international contributors.
