Updating Europe’s Relationship with Africa: New, Modernised and Refreshed Offer of Partnership

Luanda: European and African leaders are convening in Angola for a pivotal summit aimed at strengthening economic and security relationships. This summit presents a significant opportunity for both continents to engage in emergency discussions concerning the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

According to France24.com, the meeting comes at a time when the world is witnessing a shift towards American unilateralism and a more transactional approach to international relations. Paul Melly, a Journalist and Consulting Fellow of the Africa Programme at Chatham House, suggests that this summit provides the EU and AU with a platform to reaffirm the importance and benefits of collective action. The leaders are expected to explore avenues for a modernized and refreshed partnership that addresses contemporary challenges and opportunities for growth and security on both continents.
