UNSOS hands over a K9 facility to Kismayo International Airport

The United Nations Security Council Office in Somalia (UNSOS) has handed over a K9 (a specialized group of law enforcement officers who use service dogs to perform the responsibilities of a general police officer.) facility at Kismayo International Airport to the Jubaland State administration. The facility is designed to boost the airport’s safety by mitigating potential security threats posed to flight passengers and staff.

The facility was handed over to Jubaland State administration officials by Sector 6 Commander Brig. Gen. Lukas Kutto and UNSOS Kismayo OIC-RAO and Regional Engineer, Maria Bella Manangan.

Also present were the UN in Somalia’s Head of Office represented by Fexton Matupa and Kismayo Airport Chief Security Officer Mohamed Ahmed Hayi.
