GAUTENG – A collaborative effort between various law enforcement entities led to the arrest of three individuals in Fleurhof, Florida on 31 October 2023. The suspects were apprehended with unlicensed firearms in their possession.

According to South Africa Police Service, the operation involved the Provincial Serious Violence Crime Investigation Unit, detectives from SAPS Jeppe, the Gauteng Tracking Team, and the JMPD. The team acted upon intelligence regarding a murder suspect, who was reportedly traveling in a Datsun GO towards Dobsonville, intending to commit a house robbery. Law enforcement officials positioned themselves strategically and intercepted the vehicle in Hillbrow, eventually stopping and searching it in Florida. During the search, three firearms were recovered—one with its serial numbers filed off—along with ammunition. The three suspects are now awaiting their court appearance, facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Separately, in Florida, a man was arrested on the same day for possession and dealing in drugs. The arrest occurred as police executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence. The suspect was found with 35 small and 20 medium ziplock bags believed to contain Crystal Meth, alongside an undisclosed sum of money. He, too, is expected to appear in court soon.
