University of Fort Hare Wins 2023 Sasol League National Championships in Maiden Play-offs

Eastern Cape, South Africa – The University of Fort Hare claimed victory in the Sasol League National Championships, defeating Lindelani Ladies 4-3 in penalties during the final match.

According to a new release by South African Football Association, achieving significant wins along the way. The team was awarded R200,000 for their performance and earned a promotion to the Hollywoodbets Super League. Lindelani Ladies, the defeated finalists, also gained promotion and received R100,000 as runners-up.

Hloniphila Msizane was honored with the Referee of the Tournament award, while Amogelang Msiza took home the Assistant Referee of the Tournament award. Akhona Mkhize from Lindelani Ladies was named the Young Promising Player of the Tournament. Nomfundo Xulu, also from Lindelani Ladies, received the Diski Queen of the Tournament award.

University of Fort Hare’s goalkeeper, Thabisa Baleni, was crowned Goalkeeper of the Tournament due to her exceptional performance throughout the championship. Lerato Ruele from Crouses Ladies won the top goal-scorers award, having scored four goals during the tournament.
