United Nations Team Visits Titao to Assess Humanitarian Efforts

Ouahigouya, December 2, 2023 (AIB) – A delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), led by Joyce MSUYA, visited Titao on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, to review the progress of humanitarian actions in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Djibril Bassolé, the OCHA team was welcomed and engaged in direct dialogues with beneficiaries at a World Food Program (WFP) distribution site. This interaction was followed by a ceremonial food handover. The team also inspected the new helipad, which is being constructed to meet recommended technical standards. Once completed, the helipad will enable the city to receive larger aircraft, facilitating more consistent food deliveries to the area.

Bassolé commented to the AIB, “The visit from our humanitarian partners was focused on assessing the implementation of activities. We addressed current issues and visited the ongoing construction of the helipad. The progress is satisfactory, and the construction is on track. This infrastructure is crucial for enhancing our capacity to receive aid in the commune.” He highlighted this development amidst the challenging security situation in Burkina Faso, where the United Nations and the State have initiated a comprehensive food support program to aid vulnerable populations.
