United Democratic Alliance Holds Peaceful Elections in Narok Constituencies

NAROK — The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) conducted its constituency elections across Narok County without incident, covering all six constituencies. The delegates largely accepted the results, advocating for continued peace within the party.

According to Kenya News Agency, the majority of delegates expressed satisfaction with the electoral process, deeming it free and fair. Sonkoi Lemain, Narok County Assembly Majority Leader and a candidate for the party’s Secretary General position in Narok South Sub County, conceded his defeat gracefully. He affirmed the transparency and credibility of the elections, acknowledging the legitimacy of the winners.

Lemain, who supports Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu for the county’s party chairmanship, urged the rival faction led by Narok West Member of Parliament Gabriel Tongoyo to accept the outcomes for the unity and progress of the party. He noted the absence of many delegates from Tongoyo’s camp at the polls and questioned their early withdrawal from the election process.

Hilary Kipngeno, Sogoo ward MCA, who ran unopposed for the position representing professionals within the party, also praised the smooth conduct of the elections. He emphasized the fairness and freedom of the electoral process and called on elected delegates to strive for a decisive victory in upcoming elections to ensure robust representation for the party.

In contrast, Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo, chairman of the Security Committee at the National Assembly, previously criticized the ward elections, claiming they were manipulated to favor Governor Ntutu, his political rival.

The elections decided several key positions, including organizing secretary, male member, secretary, deputy secretary, treasurer, female member, chairperson, and deputy chairperson. In Narok South, the elections saw Otuni Milton winning as organizing secretary, Denis Sonkoi as male member, Sena Moibel as secretary, Kishoyian Mkum as treasurer, Chelangat Hildah as female member, and Simon Mashati as chairperson.

A total of 111 delegates participated in the voting process in the constituency.
