Unexploded WWII Bomb Defused in Hong Kong

Hami: The Hong Kong Police Force successfully defused an unexploded World War II bomb on Saturday morning at a construction site in the Eastern District. The operation ensured the safety of the site and its surroundings, allowing evacuated residents to return home and facilitating the reopening of all previously blocked roads.

According to Namibia Press Agency, despite delays caused by rain, the police managed to execute a high-stakes operation. They cut a hole in the bomb's shell and safely burned the 500 pounds of TNT explosives inside. Suryanto Chin-chiu, the senior bomb disposal officer of the Police's explosive ordnance disposal bureau, confirmed the details of the operation.

The aerial bomb, measuring 1.5 meters in length and weighing approximately 1,000 pounds, led to the evacuation of around 6,000 people from nearby buildings by 11 p.m. on Friday. Many of the evacuees spent the night at community centers, where care teams and District Council members provided assistance.
