UNESCO Adds “Iftar” to Intangible Cultural Heritage List

The nomination for this socio-cultural tradition was submitted by Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, recognizing the significance of iftar in these cultures.

According to Africa News Agency, the inclusion of iftar in its catalog of cultural treasures highlights the meal’s cultural and social importance during the holy month of Ramadan. This recognition underscores the shared cultural practices and traditions that span across these nations.
