Under-20 Football: Benfica Triumphs Over Guicoss de Cabinda to Lead Group A

Luena: The Sport Lubango Benfica team emerged victorious on Monday at the Mundunduleno stadium in Luena, defeating Guicoss FC from Cabinda with a score of 5 to 2 in the second round of the National Men's Championship under-20.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the match witnessed both teams starting with an offensive approach. Guicoss de Cabinda took an early lead with a goal from defender ABC in the 14th minute after skillfully dribbling past three Benfica defenders. However, Sport Lubango Benfica quickly retaliated, equalizing through Joaquim, followed by goals from Nataniel and Pedro, which brought the score to 3-1 by the 34th minute. Guicoss managed to narrow the gap with a goal from Br¡s, ending the first half at 3-2.

In the second half, Joaquim further solidified Benfica's lead by scoring in the 54th minute. Yanji sealed the victory with another goal in the 83rd minute, concluding the match at 5-2. The win positions Sport Lubango Benfica at the top of Group A with six points, while Academia Estrela do Futuro and Bravos do Maquis, who secured a victory over Acadªmica do Lobito, trail with three points each. Guicoss and Acad©mica do Lobito remain without points.

In other matches of the day within Group C, Desportivo do Chingo defeated SOS de Benguela 5-2, and Gratos do Sassonde edged out Vict³ria Atl©tico Clube do Bi© with a 1-0 win, while Ferrovi¡rio da Hu­la and Escola Sport Clube do Moxico ended their match in a goalless draw.

The upcoming 2nd round games for Wednesday in Group B include So Salvador against Petro de Luanda, Independente do T´mbwa facing Sinergia da Lunda Sul, and We Will Return playing against Redonda FC.
