UNAM Jaguars and NCS Secure Vital Wins in MTC Netball Namibia Premier League

KHOMASDAL STADIUM – UNAM Jaguars Netball Club and reigning champions Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) claimed important victories in the latest rounds of the MTC Netball Namibia Premier League (NNPL), boosting their positions in the league standings.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the weekend matches at Khomasdal Stadium saw NCS maintain their lead at the top of the table by defeating Afrocat Lions 52-33 in a dominant display on Saturday. The victory kept NCS tied on points with the Namibian Navy, who are closely following in second place. In another key match, the UNAM Jaguars, currently struggling against relegation, surpassed expectations by securing a win against the fifth-placed Tigers with a final score of 38-35. This win moved the Jaguars to 10 points, keeping their hopes alive in the league.

Netball Namibia president Rebecca Goagoses expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s competition during an interview with Nampa, highlighting the intense competition at both ends of the table. She noted that the newly implemented playoff system for teams in ninth and tenth places has added a new layer of excitement to the league, preventing automatic relegation for those teams. Goagoses remains optimistic about the completion of the league as scheduled and is particularly intrigued by the performance of the top teams and the newly promoted Eastern Chiefs, who have been competitive this season.
