UN Tourism Supports Angola’s ‘Meet in Angola’ Strategy and Investment Policies

Toledo: The Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Shaikha Al Nowais, expressed her support on Thursday in Toledo, Spain, for Angola's tourism sector policies, particularly the "Meet in Angola" initiative aimed at attracting events and investments.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Shaikha Al Nowais's support was articulated during a meeting with Angola's Minister of Tourism, M¡rcio Daniel. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 126th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council. Minister Daniel reiterated Angola's commitment to the UN Tourism's "UNTPass" initiative, which he described as essential for making the tourism sector more resilient and sustainable through the transformation of human capital.

The meeting, which aimed to enhance cooperation between Angola and UN Tourism in the context of global tourism development, included the presence of Balbina da Silva, the Angolan Ambassador to Spain. The 'Meet in Angola' program, a strategic initiative by the Angolan government, seeks to draw international conferences and high-level meetings to the nation. This effort is part of a broader economic diversification strategy designed to reduce reliance on the oil sector and bolster non-oil revenue streams.
