Uganda – Uganda’s trade balance with the East African Community (EAC) member states recorded a surplus of $9.45 million (Shs35.4 billion) in September, a significant shift from the $49.9 million deficit experienced in the previous month.
According to Africa News Agency, Planning and Economic Development’s report dated November 17, this surplus resulted from a combination of reduced imports, which dropped by $41.94 million (approximately Shs157.3 billion), and increased exports, which rose by $17.41 million (about Shs65.328 billion).
Furthermore, the Ministry noted a decline in imports from the region, with figures dropping to $240.69 million (about Shs903.1 billion) in September from $282.63 million (approximately Shs1.060 trillion) in August 2023.
