Ouagadougou: The Stallions of Burkina Faso, representing both boys and girls in the U15 category, marked an impressive beginning in the UFOA-B U15 African school football championship by securing victories against Ghana and C´te d'Ivoire. Both matches, played at the 4 August stadium in Ouagadougou, concluded with a score of 1-0 in favor of Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Djamilatou Oudraogo scored the decisive goal for the Burkina Faso girls' team in Group A, leading to their victory over C´te d'Ivoire. In the boys' category, also in Group A, Ibrahim Dembl's lone goal against Ghana ensured a win for the Burkinabe team.
Coach Ousmane Coulibaly, also known as Tom, who leads the U15 girls of Burkina Faso, expressed optimism about their start. He noted that the team would face their opponents again the following day with better preparation. On the other hand, Adlade Koudougnon, coach of the C´te d'Ivoire U15 girls, acknowledged the strong performance of her team and their learning journey, attributing the loss to Burkina Faso's superior organization on the field.
In Group B, the boys' team from C´te d'Ivoire emerged victorious over Nigeria with a score of 4-1. Meanwhile, in the women's category, Ghana and Benin are scheduled to compete later in the day at the same venue. Following the girls' match, a boys' game between Ghana and Niger is set to take place.
The championship is hosted in Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe capital, from December 1 to 4, 2025. It features teams from Burkina Faso, Benin, C´te d'Ivoire, Niger, and Nigeria, although Nigeria's girls' team is not participating.
