UEMOA Donates 30 Million FCFA in Office Equipment to Burkina Faso for Health Surveillance

Ouagadougou – The West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) has contributed office equipment valued at approximately 30 million FCFA to Burkina Faso, enhancing the country’s health infrastructure amid global health concerns.

According to the Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Health, the donation received on Monday includes laptops, desktop computers, tablets, multifunction color printers, video projectors, scanners, and various kits. This support from UEMOA is aimed at bolstering Burkina Faso’s epidemiological surveillance capabilities at its entry points, a crucial enhancement given the ongoing public health challenges, such as the monkeypox outbreak declared an emergency by the World Health Organization.

Mamadou Serifo Jaquité, the UEMOA Commissioner in charge of the Human Development Department, stated that this aid is part of the Union’s ongoing efforts to assist its Member States in combating epidemics, reflecting its commitment to regional health and safety.
