Uasin Gishu Governor Warns Staff Against Corruption, Emphasizes Service Delivery

Uasin gishu: Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim has urged county staff to uphold honesty and integrity, warning that corruption will not be tolerated in his Administration. The Governor spoke during the signing of performance contracts for County Executive Committee Members (CECMs).

According to Kenya News Agency, the event coincided with the swearing-in of Janet Koech (Public Service) and Robert Kemei (ICT, Youth, and Sports) at the County Headquarters. These appointments followed a recent reorganization of the County Cabinet. The Governor emphasized that the new measures under the contracts are designed to ensure residents receive efficient and quality services.

Governor Bii stated, "Corruption has no room in my Administration. I have made it clear to the staff that they should work with integrity at all times. Our people deserve transparency and dedication in service delivery." He explained that the performance contracts signed by members of the executive will be extended to all county officers to create a culture of accountability across departments.

This framework, he noted, will enable the County to track progress, measure results, and strengthen public confidence. Governor Bii welcomed the two new CECMs, saying their entry brings renewed energy to the leadership team. "The inclusion of Robert Kemei and Janet Koech enhances our capacity to deliver on the commitments we have made to the people. We are focused on building a County anchored on integrity, service, and opportunity," he added.

The two appointments follow a reorganization of the County Executive on 27th May 2025, which saw two County Executives replaced. In the changes, Janet Koech became CECM for Public Service, a role previously held by Elijah Kosgei, and Robert Kemei became CECM for ICT, Youth, and Sports, previously held by Lucy Njoroge, who was later moved to Education, previously held by Janet Kosgei.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to service delivery, noting that his Administration is keen on implementing programs that improve livelihoods across sectors. He emphasized that residents will only benefit when staff remain disciplined, transparent, and accountable. He assured residents that under his leadership, public resources will be safeguarded and directed towards initiatives that uplift communities.
