Mogadishu: The U.S. State Department announced on Wednesday that it has suspended all aid programs to the Somali government following accusations that Somali officials destroyed a World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse funded by the United States and seized food aid meant for vulnerable populations.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the U.S. State Department expressed profound concern over these reports, highlighting that 76 metric tons of donor-funded food aid had been unlawfully appropriated by Somali officials. The department's statement on X emphasized that any future assistance will be conditional on the Somali Federal Government's accountability and implementation of corrective measures to address these actions.
