Bosasso: In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike against ISIS-Somalia on April 11, 2025.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the airstrike occurred southeast of Bosasso, Puntland, in Northeastern Somalia, AFRICOM said in a statement. AFRICOM’s current assessment is that the airstrike killed one ISIS terrorist and that no civilians were harmed.
ISIS-Somalia has demonstrated its capability to attack U.S. forces, the Command added. AFRICOM, alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and Somali Armed Forces, continues to take action to reduce ISIS-Somalia’s ability to plan and conduct attacks that threaten the U.S. homeland, forces, and civilians abroad.
Specific details about units and assets will not be released to ensure continued operations security, according to AFRICOM’s statement.
