Ouagadougou – The United States Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Sandra Clark, expressed optimism about the country’s future, praising the resilience of the Burkinabè people against terrorism. This sentiment was shared during her final meeting with the President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, as reported by the presidency of Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Ambassador Clark’s meeting with Captain Traore was aimed at reviewing the cooperation between the United States and Burkina Faso. “It was an honor for me to be the United States ambassador to Burkina Faso,” said Clark, who is concluding her term as ambassador.
Looking ahead, Clark emphasized the strong foundations for continued cooperation between the two nations. She highlighted the robust ties between the Burkinabè and American people, stating that this relationship forms a solid base for ongoing collaboration in various fields including health, agriculture, culture, education, diplomacy, and development.
The ambassador acknowledged the challenging security situation in Burkina Faso but affirmed the United States’ commitment to humanitarian efforts and the development of cooperation in multiple areas.
Clark was particularly struck by the resilience of the Burkinabè people, as well as their traditions of social cohesion, tolerance, and dialogue. These qualities, she noted, are vital assets for Burkina Faso, especially given the current security context.
