Ngangelizwe SAPS in conjunction with Mthatha Fying Squad members arrested a 27-year-old man yesterday, 8 October 2023, after acting on information about a possible unlicensed firearm hidden in a certain house. At about 14:00, police pounced at the house in Mkhumatsha Street, Ngangelizwe, where a man (27) was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He is due to appear in court today on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In a separate incident, on Sunday, 8 October 2023 around midday, two armed men allegedly robbed a shop in Nenga A/A in Mqanduli. Some of the residents assisted by chasing the two men and managed to corner one of them in a bushy area until the police arrived.
The 35-year-old suspect was arrested, and a 9mm pistol was also seized. The third suspect is still at large, but his arrest is imminent. A 35-year-old suspect is due to appear in court tomorrow, 10 October 2023 on charges ranging from business robbery to possession of unlicensed firea
