Two Men Arrested in Tsumeb for Allegedly Selling Stolen Dried Meat

Tsumeb: Two men have been arrested in Tsumeb after allegedly being found in possession of stolen dried beef. The arrests occurred on Wednesday in the Kuvukiland residential area, where the suspects were reportedly selling the meat. The operation was spearheaded by local authorities following a tip-off.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo, the region’s crime investigations coordinator, stated that the arrests were part of an intelligence-driven operation. Information had been received about stolen dried cattle meat being sold from a house in Kuvukiland. Upon their arrival, authorities allegedly discovered the two suspects actively selling the meat, unable to provide an explanation for its origin.

In addition to the dried meat, which is valued at N. dollars 10,000, the suspects were found with N. dollars 630 in cash, suspected to have been obtained from the sales. The suspects, aged 31 and 35, are residents of Tsumeb and are scheduled to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court
on Friday. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
