Two Jordanians Released After Kidnapping in Syria


Amman, Jordan—Two Jordanian nationals who were kidnapped in Syria have been released after more than two weeks in captivity, according to an official statement from Jordan’s foreign ministry.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the foreign ministry announced on Saturday that Syrian authorities played a crucial role in securing the release and safe transfer of the two individuals to Jordan. The ministry confirmed that both are in good health following their ordeal.



Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah expressed appreciation for the cooperation of Syrian officials in resolving the situation and ensuring the safe return of the captives through official diplomatic channels. Qudah noted that the Jordanian Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, along with the Jordanian Embassy in Damascus, maintained continuous communication with Syrian authorities from the moment the kidnappings were reported.



While details regarding the circumstances of the kidnapping or the identities of the victims were not disclosed, the incident comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Jordan and Syria, following years of strained ties due to the Syrian civil war.
