Two Injured in Shooting Incident Involving Security Guard

Okahandja: a shooting incident in the Nau-Aib township resulted in two young men, aged 26 and 19, being critically injured. The incident occurred when a security guard on duty reportedly opened fire on them during a physical altercation at a local bar.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the head of community affairs for the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, the two victims were transferred to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in Windhoek in critical condition. The 30-year-old security guard, suspected of the shooting, was arrested on the same Saturday night on two counts of attempted murder.

The altercation between the victims and the guard allegedly escalated from a verbal quarrel to a physical fight, leading to the guard shooting both victims in the abdomen with a revolver. Medical personnel treated the victims at the scene before transporting them to the Okahandja State Hospital, and subsequently to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital for further care.

The suspect is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday. NamPol continues to investigate the incident.
