Catete: At least two people died and seven were injured on Wednesday in the municipality of Catete, Icolo e Bengo province, due to explosions in two boilers at the ZAHT Chinese iron company.

According to Angola Press News Agency, preliminary information from the Civil Protection and Firefighters indicates that the incident originated in one of the boilers around 6 a.m.

The fatalities are Chinese citizens, while those injured, who sustained minor burns, are both national and foreign workers that have been transferred to the Burns Hospital in Luanda province.

Emergency teams and rescue resources quickly mobilized to the site, where they extinguished the medium-sized fire and treated the injured.

Local authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
