Two Dead, Nine Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident on Jinbi Road

Kunming: A traffic collision in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Sunday afternoon has resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries, as reported by municipal public security authorities on Monday. The accident took place at 1:16 p.m. on Jinbi Road in the Xishan District, a prominent commercial area in Kunming.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident involved a 49-year-old local man identified by his surname, Li, who was driving a blue compact SUV. Li collided with electric bicycles and pedestrians who were using the roadway appropriately. After the initial collision, the driver fled the scene, during which his vehicle struck additional cars and pedestrians.

The collision led to two deaths, with four individuals sustaining minor injuries and five others experiencing slight injuries. All injured parties have been taken to hospitals for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

The driver has been taken into police custody, and preliminary investigations have classified the event as a hit-and-run. Authorities have ruled out alcohol or drug impairment as factors contributing to the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
