Two Arrested for Unlicensed Firearm Possession in Ga-Masemola

Polokwane – In a successful operation conducted during the Safer Festive Season initiative, two suspects, aged 26 and 34, were arrested in the Masemola police precinct on Tuesday, 21 November 2023, for possession of unlicensed firearms.

According to South Africa Police Service, Members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery, Provincial Tracking Team, Masemola K9 Unit, and Masemola Crime Prevention Unit acted on intelligence about individuals threatening local community members with firearms. The police team promptly responded to the leads, locating the suspects in Moraleng village. Upon their arrest, the suspects were found with unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, commended the operation members for their effective recovery of the firearm and ammunition, as well as the quick apprehension of the suspects. The arrested individuals are scheduled to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court soon, while police investigations continue.
