Two Arrested for Double Murder in Parow

Pretoria – The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes unit in Parow made significant progress in a double murder case with the detention of two suspects, aged 27 and 34, on separate days. The first arrest occurred on Monday, 20 November 2023, followed by the second on Wednesday, 22 November 2023.

According to South African Police Service, Parow police responded to a complaint on Monday, 20 November 2023, at Market Street, Parow Valley, where they discovered the bodies of a 71-year-old male and a 77-year-old female. Both victims, who sustained fatal injuries, were declared deceased on the scene. Initial findings suggest that the assailants entered the house through the roof and attacked the elderly couple.

The 27-year-old suspect appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 23 November 2023, with the case remanded to 29 November 2023 for bail information. The 34-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, 27 November 2023. Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, the Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, praised the investigating team’s diligence and thorough preparation for a successful prosecution.
