Bouss©: Twenty students from Kourw©ogo trained in daily life skills The Network for the Promotion and Empowerment of Rural Women (REPAFER) trained, on March 27 and 28, 2025 in Bouss©, about twenty students from schools in the Kourw©ogo province, on daily life skills and sexual and reproductive health rights. The workshop brought together provincial authorities in charge of secondary education.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this capacity building session, held on March 27 and 28, 2025, was intended for members of the offices of ‘yam pukri’ clubs of secondary schools in the province. During these two days, participants benefited from the teachings of Moussa Nikiema, social affairs administrator, on themes such as self-esteem, decision-making, critical thinking, emotional management, resistance to negative influences, civic values, and the issue of gender.

Addressing sexual and reproductive health issues, health worker Solange Zida Kabor© raised awareness among students about youth and adolescent sexuality. She emphasized risky behaviors and their impact on young people’s health.

For REPAFER program assistant and activity coordinator, Somdaa Ilboudo, the YAM PUKRI program aims to prevent early and forced marriages by keeping girls in school, as well as to protect and promote the sexual and reproductive health rights of young people. “The establishment of school clubs allows us to involve adolescents in the fight against early and forced marriages while empowering them to take responsibility for their sexuality,” he explained.

The goal is to strengthen students’ resilience against the risk of dropping out of school and to promote quality education. The provincial director in charge of secondary education, Abdoulaye Sawadogo, expressed his gratitude to REPAFER for its commitment to schoolchildren. He praised the support provided to his department in its educational mission, particularly for students in vulnerable situations and young girls.

Assuring his willingness to support the project, Mr. Sawadogo urged participants to act as relays to their peers for a wider dissemination of the lessons learned. With this initiative, REPAFER hopes to contribute to the training of responsible, patriotic, and competent citizens, in line with the needs of Burkina Faso.
