Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the province of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, presided over the monthly ceremony of raising the national colors within the 23rd Mobile Gendarmerie Squadron of Hound, in the presence of the vital forces of the province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the first monthly flag-raising ceremony of the year in Tuy took place at the 23rd Mobile Gendarmerie Squadron in Hound, marked by a significant mobilization of civilian and military populations. High Commissioner Issiaka Segda praised the active forces present and paid tribute to those engaged in the fight against terrorism. He expressed gratitude to the Gendarmerie Squadron for their warm welcome and professionalism, particularly acknowledging Lieutenant Kiswensida Daouda Traor and his team.
Mr. Segda encouraged the population to engage in the DEME SIRA campaign, aimed at strengthening social cohesion, peace, and security in the province, running until January 31, 2026. He also drew parallels between the People's Democratic Revolution of 1983-1987, led by Captain Thomas Sankara, and the current People's Progressive Revolution led by Captain Ibrahim Traor, highlighting their patriotic and sovereignist character and citizen mobilization around endogenous development.
The High Commissioner called for unity, discipline, and patriotism among the people, wishing them health, peace, and success for 2026. Lieutenant Kiswensida Daouda Traor, commander of the 23rd Mobile Gendarmerie Squadron, provided an overview of the Squadron's activities and expressed gratitude for the support from authorities, partners, and civil society. He commended the collaboration between armed forces and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the province's security in cooperation with other forces.
The next monthly national flag-raising ceremony is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Hound Prefecture.
