Tuy Health District Celebrates 2025 Awards with Key Stakeholders

Ouagadougou: The Hounde health district presents its 2025 awards to key stakeholders

The Hounde health district presented its awards obtained in 2025 to the vital forces of the Tuy province on Monday, January 5, 2026, during the monthly ceremony of raising the national colors held at the mobile gendarmerie squadron in Hounde.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the district secured the 3rd prize in the category “Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT)” at the 2025 awards ceremony for public and community structures engaged in the fight against HIV/AIDS, organized by the SP/CNLS-IST. The district also received a certificate of recognition for its performance in collecting blood for the benefit of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS) and a letter of congratulations from the health hierarchy for maintaining essential health and nutrition services.

The District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr. Youssouf Ouedraogo, attributed these distinctions to collective efforts. He detailed that the Hounde health district has implemented several actions, such as systematic HIV screening of pregnant women, early administration of antiretrovirals, and rigorous monitoring of HIV-positive mothers and their children.

Regarding blood transfusion, the Chief Medical Officer of the district highlighted that the Hounde health district has revitalized the transfusion and hemovigilance committee. He noted that in 2024, out of 1,000 bags of blood collected by the districts of the Guiriko region, the district of Hounde provided 600.

Dr. Ouedraogo commended his colleagues for their dedication and urged them to intensify their efforts to elevate the Hounde health district to higher ranks in the future. He expressed gratitude to local authorities for their support and advice.

In dedicating these awards to the district’s people, he invited them to make greater use of health services. The High Commissioner of the province of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, who presided over the ceremony, extended his congratulations to the Hounde health district team and encouraged them to continue their efforts for the benefit of the people.
